Giving Young Smiles a Chance
Adopting good oral hygiene habits at an early age will give your child the best chance of maintaining a healthier smile once they reach adulthood. While brushing, flossing, and rinsing at home are pivotal and can make a lasting difference, regular dental checkups and teeth cleanings with a member of our dental team are equally as essential. When visiting our dental office, you can expect your little one to get the care they need and deserve, so their smiles are set up for success in the long run. Dental Sealants
Reaching the molars and premolars can be difficult for little ones learning how to properly clean their teeth. But because these teeth have pits and grooves that easily trap bacteria and harmful food particles, they can be prime targets for cavities. This is why we recommend dental sealants. These clear coatings are applied over the chewing surfaces of these teeth, creating a barrier between the tooth enamel and anything that might try to penetrate and wreak havoc. Sealants are checked during each appointment but can last up to 10 years with proper care.
Athletic Mouthguards
If your child enjoys playing sports, investing in a customized athletic mouthguard is not only worthwhile but necessary. Far too many children suffer dental injuries as a result of a hard tackle or sudden fall. But with a comfortable mouthguard that fits over the top row of teeth to minimize the impact should they suffer a blow to the head or face, they can spend more time enjoying the game they love and less time visiting the emergency dentist’s office for treatment.
Frenectomies
Lip and tongue ties are issues that can impact infants, children, teenagers, and even adults. Since most patients are just babies when problems begin to form (i.e., difficulty latching/nursing, fussiness, development of acid reflux/colic, etc.), our team can easily treat the problem by releasing the banded tissue through a process known as a frenectomy. With our Biolase iPlus soft tissue laser, we can quickly and painlessly release the lip or tongue tie, allowing for greater movement and improved functionality.
Pulp Therapy
When the interior of a tooth (the pulp) becomes damaged or decayed, your child will likely complain of serious pain. To remedy the issue and help them achieve relief, we can perform pulp therapy, which is similar to an adult root canal. By eliminating the diseased tissue, we will alleviate the discomfort by filling the structure and capping the tooth with a customized dental crown.
